MY STATEMENT OF CALLING

My name is James Malinga, a servant of the most High God, I gave my life to Jesus Christ 30 years ago. Before following Christ, I tried to find fulfillment in life by working hard and playing harder as a young man.

By then Pentecostal churches were rare to be found, my sister invited me for church, we had to trek a journey of approximately 50 kilometers to that church, I liked the spiritual atmosphere at church, a small church with local drums played by talented men and one manual guitar played by the pastor brought out nice worship melodies, this made me go back to church again and again despite the distance, over time I learnt that God had sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay for our sins, after I was exposed to God’s word, I was convicted in my heart that I was a sinner as young as I was and that I was on my way to hell because I was seeking joy and fulfillment in created things rather than in the creator.

On Easter Monday of 1993 while at home my sister lead me in a repentance prayer, I received Christ as my personal savior, that event turned my life around, all through the repentance moment, tears rolled in my eyes, I trusted with all my heart in Jesus alone for my salvation and eternal joy, I was baptized by emersion and begun studying the bible to learn more about Gods precious and great promises which can set us free, the bible says that all those who repent and trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins will have eternal life.

Sometime after that my elder brother also confessed Christ and planted a church near home, we continued to worship and grow together with other people who treasure Christ above all things.

In schools that I attended I was not ashamed to let them know my position in Christ, I joined Christian fellowship groups and ministered in music ministry which enabled me live a faithful life even when I was away from the people who knew me, I was always convinced that my father in heaven is watching me.
