A Church With a
Mission to Make
Disciples who
Multiply
Background
New Spring Ministries is a growing, vibrant ministry in Uganda in east-central Africa through the ongoing dedication of founding Pastor James Malinga. The ministry was conceived in 2017 after God impressed James with a vision for a group of 100 people in need of shepherding and discipleship. Pastor James obediently responded to this call and with continued, fervent prayer and humble beginnings, met under a small rented tent which included his wife and four children.
A few months later following a house-to-house evangelism outreach into the community, two more converts were baptized and received into the fellowship. This added growth confirmed God’s purpose and birthed New Spring Ministries. Read More
Vision
Our vision at New Spring Ministries in central Uganda is to make fully devoted disciples of Christ Jesus as we reach people and proclaim the life-changing gospel of Christ. As a Christian church we desire to see lives transformed and our communities positively impacted for God’s glory and for eternity.
History
Since God established this ministry almost five years ago, His blessing, grace, and power has been evident. We have witnessed God significantly changed people in the community by the power of His Holy Spirit. In year one, an evangelism tool we used was “Matthew parties” where new converts offered hospitality to their non-Christian friends in their homes and had a small group leader or pastor share the gospel message. We also visited house-to-house in the community to share the four spiritual laws, the gospel on one hand, or the gospel with one verse. A further outreach involved a “bucket challenge” which blessed the neighborhood with a bucket filled with bread, butter, sugar, soap and other food supplies. As a result of these efforts, sixty people were converted to Christianity including former sorcerers/magicians. Of these, forty-five expressed interest and enrolled in our Christian discipleship course to equip them to grow and mature in their new found faith.
At New Spring, we are passionate about seeing every believer participate in a small group where they may have accountability and increase in Christ-centered values, biblical virtues, God-honoring behavior, and be sharpened in their understanding of God’s word. This vital connection has enabled them to actively pursue Christ and seek to please Him in every day choices. Approved curriculum used for this disciple-making process resulted in five members
graduating after completing the course; others are still working through the material.
Within our church family we have seen over eighty children regularly attend our Sunday worship service including some from Muslim families. We are overflowing with gratitude to Almighty God who enabled us to disciple these precious little ones for His Kingdom. On many occasions these children have motivated their parents to attend the annual Christmas party and support them as they participated in the concert. These seekers have witnessed first-hand the joy of the Lord and met Christ for themselves adding converts to our congregation.
